Slipperzzz at the Pend Oreille Playhouse (Newport Washington Photographer)

A couple of months ago my wife noticed that the Pend Oreille Playhouse in Newport, Washington was going to have auditions for an upcoming play called Slipperzzz. The casting call was for actors in grades 3-6 and my daughter decided she wanted to give acting a try. The play followed the story of Cob the shoemaker and the 12 dancing princesses who keep wearing out their shoes. Slipperzzz was written by Jeannette Jacquish, and directed by Alyssa Miller and Duncan Heaney and they did an outstanding job with these 25 actors ranging in ages from 8 to 13.

I attended three of the six permanence and for two of them I was there early to get some behind the scenes photos. 2013 North vs. South All Star Basketball Games

This last weekend I covered the 2013 North vs. South All Star Basketball Game at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This annual event pits some of the best senior’s from Northern Idaho against some of the best from the South. Between the boys and girls games is a 3 point and dunk contest . 2013 Battle of the Buck – Stop Motion Style Video

For the third year in a row I was able to make it to the Battle of the Buck spirit games between Priest River High School and Timberlake High School. This time around I decided to cover the event a little different than normal. With all of the activity of the crowd and the fun of the different competitions I decided to photograph the event with the intention of putting together a stop motion style video. In all I used over 7,000 photos to make a video a little less than 10 minutes long. I would not normally produce a video of this nature that was more than 4 or 5 minutes long, but since I was producing this to record the entire event for those that took part I decided not to cut it down.

Gingerbread Houses

One of the fun things we did in my home for Christmas was letting the kids make gingerbread houses. Technically they were not gingerbread houses because they were made from Graham Crackers, but they are the exact same concept. The kiddos did such a great job and their houses looked great so before allowing them to munch down on them we took them to the studio so we could get some photos of their architectural masterpieces! I helped the kids take some of their own photos and shot a few of my own. Check out these great houses.

After using the studio lights we turned out the lights and photographed a couple of the houses with a technique called light painting. This technique gives you a different look every time and I would have liked to do some more painting but at this point I did not want to deprive the kids of their sweet treats any longer.

12/21/2012 Christmas Tournament Day 1 (Newport Photographer)

Every December Newport High School and Priest River High School trade off in hosting the annual Christmas Tournament. This was my third year covering the event which includes the boys and girls teams from the two rotating host schools as two other area teams. This year Northwest Christian and Selkirk were in attendance. After it was all said and done it was the Northwest Christian and Newport teams that would move on to the championship games the next day. 12/11/2012 – Newport at Priest River (JV & Varsity)

The first meeting of cross border rivals Newport and Priest River for the 2012-2013 season took place last night. Austin’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Austin is the keeper for the 2012 4A State Champion Sandpoint Soccer team and we worked together at the end of August to capture some images for his senior photos in. Now that the season is over I was able to get his final choices and work up a blog post. As I often do we spent the first half of our time getting the more traditional yearbook friendly photos, then when we had those finished we concluded with some more dramatically lit soccer themed photos and some action portraits.

We were even able to sneak in a quick family portrait.

I met up with the Abbott family for a “Dad and Kiddo Friendly” family mini-session. The goal was to get a great shot for Christmas cards while avoiding hypothermia. Most of the trees in the Sandpoint area had decided to shed their nice fall leaves for the winter but thankfully we were still able to find a spot that was still holding on to a remnant of fall color.
