The Sandpoint Varsity Girls Soccer team hosted the Grizzlies of Newport yesterday afternoon. It was a hard fought game on both sides with Sandpoint coming out ahead 3-1. Here are some photos from the game, please check out the links on this page for full galleries and to order prints.
The first time I photographed Jim was at a basketball game in Coeur d’Alene back in 2010. The defending state champion Priest River Spartans looking for strong competition were playing the Coeur d’Alene Vikings and during a stop in play I was taking photos of the Priest River fans from across the gym. One of the fans noticed I was taking photos, stood up and pointed at me, I took this photo.
The reason I remember this is the fact that it started something that continued through the rest of the season, at every game I would look for Jim and he would look for me so we could get yet another photo of him doing the “The Point”. We tried to mix it up every now and then and get a variety of “Point” shots.
Now a couple of years later I have had the privilege of taking Jim’s senior photos as well as some photos with his sisters, yes we had to sneak in a pointing shot.
Alright, enough pointing fingers let’s get on with some senior photos!
Right around sunset we were at a perfect spot and the sky was amazing. The next shots were all taken at the same spot only minutes apart, we simply turned different directions and were able to get very different looks.
Andrew’s main request for his senior photos was that he wanted to have photos with his car in an alley setting, we set up a variety of shots in a great alley in Coeur d’Alene for him and then wrapped things up down by the lake.
We had a late start due to soccer practice but we were able to work efficiently to get some photos for Devin by the lake, around town and at the soccer field before the sun set for the day. Here are some of the photos from the evening.
I have had the opportunity to photograph Andrew a number of times this summer with more to come this fall. He is the starting center for the Sandpoint Bulldogs who I cover frequently for IdahoSports.com and he was also of the athletes that I photographed for the cover of the 2012 Football program, check out this link for those photos. Do you see the special guest in the next photo? I did not see it until I started editing this photo, but there is a hummingbird in the top left corner of this shot.
The Sandpoint Bulldogs kicked off their season by hosting the Knights of East Valley. Here are some photos from the game as well as a link to view the entire gallery of photos and order prints.
Grahram-Kapowsin High School from the Tacoma area of Wasington made the trip to Idaho to take on the Trojans of Post Falls. I was there for the Varsity game as well as the second half of the JV game. This year Steve Russo and the staff at the Sandpoint Newsline took on the tack of creating and publishing the 2012 Sandpoint Bulldog Football Program. Steve and I are both sticklers for quality so when he contacted me about shooting some portraits for the program as well as for the upcoming September issue of the Newsline I was thrilled. The inside of the program also features many of my action photos and for every home game they will be publishing a new program featuring one of my action photos on the cover. Here are some of the published and unpublished photos from my shoot with the team.
We took a number of different vertical shots to give the Newsline plenty of options for the cover. We did some individual shots. . .
We squeezed did a group shot with 6 athletes and Coach Puailoa
And a couple of shots with three of the linemen
This is the one they ended up using, minus the victory bell.
We also did a couple of old school shots and I processed them with a grainy black and white look.
We ended the session with a lineup of linemen.
