I always look forward to making the trip south the the Boise area in February for both the Idaho Girls State Basketball Tournament as well as the Boys Tournament. 02/08/2013 – Lakeland at Sandpoint (Sandpoint Photographer)

Last night I was excited to set up my new remote “Glass Cam”, a remotely triggered camera installed on the back side of the basketball hoop and positioned to shoot through the glass backboard. The glass of the backboard at Sandpoint High School is almost certainly the same one installed when the school was built over 20 years ago and it certainly shows it’s wear and tear with quite a few scratches but even with the very imperfect glass to shoot through I was able to get a handful of fun shots. 02/09/2013 Coeur d’Alene at Sandpoint

Yesterday the Coeur d’Alene Vikings boys basketball teams traveled to Sandpoint to take on the bulldogs. I once again set up my remote “glass cam” but I made a few adjustments. I changed the positioning of the camera a bit and I set up two remotes on top of my camera, one to fire my strobes and another to fire the remote camera a fraction of a second later. This gave me the opportunity to capture the same game play from two different angles at virtually the same time. Here is a side by side example

2013 Prairie Pig

2013 Battle of the Buck – Stop Motion Style Video

For the third year in a row I was able to make it to the Battle of the Buck spirit games between Priest River High School and Timberlake High School. This time around I decided to cover the event a little different than normal. With all of the activity of the crowd and the fun of the different competitions I decided to photograph the event with the intention of putting together a stop motion style video. In all I used over 7,000 photos to make a video a little less than 10 minutes long. I would not normally produce a video of this nature that was more than 4 or 5 minutes long, but since I was producing this to record the entire event for those that took part I decided not to cut it down.

Seniors Caelyn (Goose) Orlandi, Kendalyn Brainard and Carli Williams were celebrated last night as it was the last regular season home game of the season.

Last night I traveled to Rathdrum to photograph the three basketball games between the Lakeland Hawks and Sandpoint Bulldogs. I was able to cover the JV Girls and the Varsity girls and boys games played in the main gym. It was the last regular season home game for the Girls so seniors Dakota St. Mark, Lena Pote, Jordan Ward, Josie Coder and Kacie Derby were honored for senior night.

Last night the Sandpoint Girls Basketball teams hosted their last regular season home games for the year as they hosted the Tigers from Timberlake High School. As is tradition the last regular season home game is Senior Night, last night Sandpoint celebrated their lone senior Jordan Speelmon.

As part of the celebration the entire team, including coach Bill Bender, sported custom made Jordan #22 headbands!

2013 Moose Madness

Last night it was time once again for the annual Moose Madness spirit games between Sandpoint High School and Bonners Ferry High School. This event features a variety of different competitions and one of the few things that is taken into consideration for the winning school is the score of the two basketball games that serve as the backdrop of the games. After the scores of the dance team, cheer leading fan spirit, stop and moose call competitions were tallied it was Bonners Ferry that was able to hold up the moose antlers in victory.
