Senior Portraits with Andra

Andra was my Class of 2016 Senior Model from Post Falls High School. For her portrait session we started out with some time in the Studio, she is a setter for the Post Falls Volleyball team so we spend a lot of our studio time working on some sports themed photos for her.

After the studio we explored some areas in Eastern Washington. At the next location we started out with some natural light portraits and then we pulled out the strobe so we could capture all of the vibrant colors of the spring grass, deep blue sky and the great cloud formations. You can see by the vibrant colors we are able to capture why I love working with my senior models during the spring, you don’t get these same colors in July and August!

After a while we moved on to the greenbluff area just north of Spokane.

We finished up with some shots around sunset time.

Winter Senior Photos with Corinne

Corinne is one of my Class of 2015 Senior Models from Sandpoint High School. She is an outstanding soccer player for the State Champion Bulldogs and she has one of the biggest and most infectious smiles you will ever see. Here are some photos from our winter session on a snowy day in January.

2013 Idaho Boys State Basketball Tournament – Day 1

Rocky Mountain (61) vs. Lake City (33)

Matt Grooms was the high scorer for Rocky Mountain with 15 followed by EJ Boyce with 14 and John Sherle with 13. Chuckie Adams scored 8 and JJ Winger had 6 for Lake City.

Highland (57) vs. Capital (56)

High Scorers for Highland Rams were Austin Andreasen with 16, Ben Stephens with 14 and Stefan Gonzalez with 12. For the Golden Tarik Littlejohn with 11.

Borah (54) vs. Madison (43)

The Loins of Borah were led by Junior and three year starter Isaiah Wright with 21, Cody Spjute added 14 and Zak Studebaker 9. Lyle Sutton was the leading scorer for the Madison Bobcats with 18 followed by Stockton Berry with 14.

Mountain View (44) vs. Post Falls (34)

Mountain View’s Tanner Percifeld scored more than half of the Mavericks points with 24, Kody Olson pitched in 9 and Randal Robinson added 7. Nick Hall led the Trojans with 9, Max McCullough and Keaton Corr both scored 6.

2013 Prairie Pig

For the first time I had the pleasure of covering the spirit games between Lakeland high School and Post Falls High School called The Prairie Pig. After all the events of the evening it was the Lakeland Hawks that took home the final prize. The Trojans of Post Falls made the trip to War Memorial Field in Sandpoint to take on the bulldogs. It was Post Falls who came out victorious in this exciting game, besting the Bulldogs 31-13. Andrew B.’s Senior Photos (Coeur d’Alene Photographer)

Andrew’s main request for his senior photos was that he wanted to have photos with his car in an alley setting, we set up a variety of shots in a great alley in Coeur d’Alene for him and then wrapped things up down by the lake.

Grahram-Kapowsin High School from the Tacoma area of Wasington made the trip to Idaho to take on the Trojans of Post Falls. I was there for the Varsity game as well as the second half of the JV game. 2012 W.N.R.S #1

Last night the 2012 Wednesday Nigh Ride Series began out at Farragut State Park. As usual All About Adventures put on a great ride and I was glad to be there to capture some of the riders in action. A link to the entire gallery of photos can be found at the bottom of this blog post.

I used a three speedlight setup for almost all of the action shots, I started out with all three set up in the same spot, here are some shots from that setup.

Then I decided to change things up a bit. I kept one speedlight on a light stand for a front fill light and then used some Impact Superclamps to attach the other two speedlights to some tree branches and pointed them at the back and side of the riders to give a more dramatic light setup. I missed a few riders as I changed my setup but I think it was worth it as I really liked the results. Here is the setup:

The rim lights are easy to spot here, the fill light is on the right side on a light stand.

Now for the results, after a few adjustments I was able to get the look I was going for, a dramatic rim light on both sides of the rider to separate them from the background mixed with a nice amount of directional fill light.

The evening finished off with a barbeque put on by the Pend Orielle Peddlers and there were a lot of items given away in the raffle, as you can see below Ken from All About Adventures had a great time giving away a bunch of fun stuff!
