03/27/2013 Lakeland vs. Lake City (Coeur d’Alene Photographer)

The Lakeland Hawks softball and baseball teams took the short trip to Coeur d’Alene to take on the Timberwolves of Lake City High School. I was there for all 7 innings of the Softball game and the last three innings of the baseball game. The last four photos from this game are from the same play. Lake City senior pitcher Casey Stangle was on second base when her team mate hit a fly ball up the middle of the field toward second base. Normally if the fly ball was caught in the air she would have a chance to get back to the base and avoid a double play, but Lakeland Shortstop Bekah Kastning caught the fly ball with her foot already on second, turning two. Unfortunately the runner ran right in front of me at the peak of the action but I thought the reactions to the play by the two players was worth sharing.

My sports coverage was a little lighter this week due to some portrait work and a wedding in Sacramento.   I love shooting sports but I also have to pay my bills so portrait and wedding work always takes priority!  I did make sure to schedule my flights for the wedding so that I would only miss a Saturday’s worth of games though.  Here is this weeks recap of my sports and sports related work this last week.

Weekly Sports Recap (09/05/2011)

This last week volleyball was added to the mix of fall sports, I had the opportunity to photograph the varsity match between Lake City and Sandpoint as well as the JV and varsity matches between Kellogg and Lakeland.  On the soccer side of things I made my way to Post Falls for their game against Coeur d’Alene, to Lake City High School as they faced Sandpoint and Priest River as they hosted Kellogg.  I had two football games on my schedule this week.  Friday night it was Sandpoint as they traveled to Spokane to take on East Valley High School, then Saturday I visited Lake City to cover the JV game against Mead.  When I arrived I found referees and a lake city team but no Mead team!  It turns out that Mead had a team ready to go but no bus to take them to Coeur d’Alene for their game.  I went searching for some Junior tackle football to shoot but to no avail, I did however find a parking spot right in front of Hudson’s Hamburgers in downtown Coeur d’Alene, clearly this was a sign that I needed to have a couple of cheeseburgers for breakfast!

Weekly Sports Recap (8/22/2011)

This week the Fall High School sports season officially began.  On the schedule this last week were two varsity soccer games and a football jamboree.

Varsity Girls Soccer – Sandpoint vs. Post Falls

Kicking off the week was the season opener for Sandpoint and Post Falls Varsity Girls Soccer.  Post falls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals by Kilie Ellison and Jessica Waller but Sandpoint fought back and won the game 2-3 with goals by Meghan Pagano, Emma Weme and Ellie Engel.   Here are a few photos, the complete photo gallery can be found at this link: http://bit.ly/pZDl4l

Boys Varsity Soccer – Sandpoint vs. Coeur d’Alene

The Sandpoint Bulldogs and Coeur d’Alene Vikings kicked off their season with a 2-2 tie.  Scoring for the Bulldogs was Aaron Crossingham and Raleigh Hanson, both of the Vikings goals were scored by Adam Borshiem.  The full gallery can be found here: http://bit.ly/oCyHs3

Timberlake Football Jamboree
