Battle of the Buck 2012

Saturday was a very busy and exhausting day, the first 8 hours was spent photographing a wedding in Sandpoint after that I had to hustle to Priest River in time to set up my lights for the Annual “Battle of the Buck” basketball spirit games. Weddings are a lot of work and with all that happens at the Battle of the Buck it is one of the more tiring sporting events that I cover, add those together on the same day and you have one sore shooting hand and one useless photographer the next day! Thankfully it was worth the Battle of the Buck is such a fun event and I would have been really disappointed to miss it!

Coeur d’Alene vs. Post Falls 01/13/2012

A couple of great games were on tap as some of Idaho’s best basketball teams faced off last Friday night. The Post Falls Trojans traveled to Coeur d’Alene High school to take on the Vikings. The games did not disappoint, especially the boys game that ended up in overtime with the game winning shot coming at the buzzer. Fight For The Fish 2012

On Friday night a fellow photographer gave me a gift that I am still appreciating today, that gift was a set of ear plugs. I am certain that had I not had those my ears would still be ringing tonight, almost 24 hours later. The reason was that Coeur d’Alene High School’s Jordan Court was overflowing with students who had the goal of making a lot of noise to show off their school spirit. Yesterday was the annual “Fight For The Fish”, the spirit games between the Coeur d’Alene Viking and the Lake City Timberwolf basketball teams. We Love Bobby!

One of the goals of spirit games is to raise money for a good cause. This past fall Priest River football player Bobby Clark was seriously injured during the homecoming game against Timberlake. The Coeur d’Alene and Lake City students chose to raise money to help Bobby’s family with their medical bills. I live in the Priest River area and covered the game when he was hurt so when I heard that the students were donating $1,000 to help Bobby I was thrilled. Then when they started chanting “We Love Bobby” over and over again had to grab a clip so that Bobby, his family and all his friends could see it for themselves. Here is about 9 seconds of the chant:

01/03/2012 Coeur d’Alene vs. Lewiston

The first sporting that I covered in this new year was the three basketball games between the Coeur d’Alene Vikings and the Lewiston Bengals. I shot the games that were played at Jordan Court which were the Junior Varsity Girls, Varsity Girls and the Varsity Boys. This year the annual Moose Madness Basketball Spirit Games between Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry were held in Sandpoint. Bonners Ferry came in seeking to defend as champion, but this year Sandpoint pulled out a win. One thing I learned at this game was that I need to add ear plugs to my photography bag for next year’s competition! Weekly Sports Recap (8/29/2011)

The second week of the fall High School sports season was a busy one. Soccer was the main sport this last, I covered 9 games this last week, 7 varsity and 2 JV.
