Gingerbread Houses

One of the fun things we did in my home for Christmas was letting the kids make gingerbread houses. Technically they were not gingerbread houses because they were made from Graham Crackers, but they are the exact same concept. The kiddos did such a great job and their houses looked great so before allowing them to munch down on them we took them to the studio so we could get some photos of their architectural masterpieces! I helped the kids take some of their own photos and shot a few of my own. Check out these great houses.

After using the studio lights we turned out the lights and photographed a couple of the houses with a technique called light painting. This technique gives you a different look every time and I would have liked to do some more painting but at this point I did not want to deprive the kids of their sweet treats any longer.

Fall Family Portraits (Sandpoint Idaho Photographer)

These photos were shot back in early October with the plans of using them for Christmas cards and gifts, so as to not be the Grinch that stole the surprise I have waited until after Christmas to publish them! We had such a great combination of colors for this early fall family photos shoot, with the use of a nice big diffuser we were able shoot almost exclusively with natural light which makes life much simpler when you are photographing a family with three kiddos!

12/21/2012 Christmas Tournament Day 1 (Newport Photographer)

Every December Newport High School and Priest River High School trade off in hosting the annual Christmas Tournament. This was my third year covering the event which includes the boys and girls teams from the two rotating host schools as two other area teams. This year Northwest Christian and Selkirk were in attendance. After it was all said and done it was the Northwest Christian and Newport teams that would move on to the championship games the next day. 12/18/2012 Lake City at Coeur d’Alene

Coeur d’Alene’s Lake City High School and Couer d’Alene High School faced off last night and when these two schools play there is always a lot of energy in the crowd, which makes photographing the students in attendance almost as much fun as photographing the game! I was set up to cover the three games played at Jordan Court which were the JV Girls, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys. Here are some shots from the game as well as links to the full galleries.

The first meeting of cross border rivals Newport and Priest River for the 2012-2013 season took place last night. Austin’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Austin is the keeper for the 2012 4A State Champion Sandpoint Soccer team and we worked together at the end of August to capture some images for his senior photos in. Now that the season is over I was able to get his final choices and work up a blog post. As I often do we spent the first half of our time getting the more traditional yearbook friendly photos, then when we had those finished we concluded with some more dramatically lit soccer themed photos and some action portraits.

We were even able to sneak in a quick family portrait.

Abbot Family Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

I met up with the Abbott family for a “Dad and Kiddo Friendly” family mini-session. The goal was to get a great shot for Christmas cards while avoiding hypothermia. Most of the trees in the Sandpoint area had decided to shed their nice fall leaves for the winter but thankfully we were still able to find a spot that was still holding on to a remnant of fall color.
